Interface overview
FreeCanvas, docks, menus, and overlays.
FenSight's main window is built around a persistent board canvas with task-specific docks around it. Use the canvas for placement and review, then open docks, menus, toolbar controls, and context menus when the workflow needs more structure.

Primary areas
The canvas is the center of the workspace: it holds board items, labels, shapes, connectors, selections, zoom state, and any saved board geometry. Docks sit around that canvas for focused workflows such as tags, properties, folder browsing, duplicate review, AI search, upload, and settings-driven tools.
- Menus expose application commands for files, view toggles, folder browsing, duplicate scans, upload, visualizers, and help.
- The toolbar keeps high-frequency controls close to the board, including settings, layout refresh, centering, the layout dropdown, search, AI search, tags, and delete actions.
- Status and activity surfaces include the AI status indicator, trial or license status, task progress inside docks, and activity logs in AI/search or settings workflows.
- Context menus on board items, folders, result grids, and selected files mirror common actions such as open, add to board, organize, enrich, copy path, and inspect properties.
Docks
Docks are task panels that attach to the main window without changing the saved board unless you explicitly apply an edit, run a file operation, or save the board.

Temporary views vs persistent board
The board is the persistent surface: positions, tags, labels, shapes, connectors, and saved metadata live there when you save a .fns file. Temporary analytical views sit on top of or beside that board so you can inspect a collection without immediately rewriting its saved geometry.
- Active view chips identify temporary modes and provide a quick way to focus, reopen, or close their related controls.
- Many docks are selection-driven: changing the selected board items, folder-browse rows, map results, or duplicate rows changes what the dock previews.
- Visualizers, File Size Visualizer, and Game Memory Mode are analytical views; they help inspect color, size, memory, location, or risk without committing a new board arrangement.
- If you use a temporary analysis to make a real arrangement decision, explicitly save the board after applying the geometry or file edits you want to keep.
