File Size Visualizer

Studio

See the heavyweight files immediately.

File Size Visualizer creates a temporary analytical board view where file-backed items scale by source file size. It helps large files, delivery outliers, and storage-heavy assets stand out while giving you an Exit View path back to the original geometry.

How to open it

Menu

Tools -> File Size Visualizer...

Opens the File Size Visualizer panel for the current board.

Toolbar

Active view chip -> File Size: <curve> <min>x-<max>x

When the view is active, the chip reopens the panel; its close button exits the view.

File Size Visualizer is a Studio advanced visualizer. It uses a transient view session; Exit View or the active chip close action restores the captured original item geometry.

How it works

The panel title is File Size Visualizer. Opening it starts from a snapshot of eligible board items, scales each item around its original center, and can auto-pack the result into file-size clusters. Closing the active view chip or choosing Exit View restores the original geometry.

  • Only file-backed items are eligible. Shapes, labels, strokes, and board previews are excluded.
  • Default log scaling makes large differences visible while keeping smaller files readable.
  • Selection only is available when the current selection contains eligible file-backed items.
  • Use Exit View or close the active chip to restore the captured geometry before saving when you do not want the analytical sizing kept.
  • The active chip label uses File Size: {curve} {min}x-{max}x.

Controls

Sets the smallest visual size multiplier.Default 0.55x. Normalized to 0.1-4.0.

Sets the largest visual size multiplier.Default 2.75x. Normalized to 0.1-6.0; swapped with Min scale if needed.
StrengthStudio
Controls how strongly the calculated size scale is applied.Default 1.0. Normalized to 0-2; 0 stays at original size, 1 uses the full computed scale.
Clamp outliersStudio
Keeps extreme files from dominating the view.Default on. Uses the 5th and 95th percentiles before normalization.
Selection onlyStudio
Limits the visualizer to the current selected scope.Default off. Available only when selected items include eligible file-backed items.
Auto layoutStudio
Re-packs the scaled items so size differences are easier to compare.Default on. Groups by Cluster: File Size, orders custom clusters, and packs with Masonry Screen Space using the current aspect and custom cluster item spacing.
Show file size badgesStudio
Draws readable file-size labels on scaled items.Default off. Labels use B, KB, MB, GB, TB, or Unknown.
ResetStudio
Returns the panel to its default settings.Restores Log, 0.55x min, 2.75x max, 1.0 strength, clamping on, full board scope, auto layout on, and badges off.
ApplyStudio
Applies the current panel settings immediately.Restores the session snapshot first, then recalculates scale, layout, badges, and the active chip.
Exit ViewStudio
Leaves File Size Visualizer mode.Ends the transient session, restores original item geometry, hides badges, clears the chip, and closes the panel.

Scaling model

The scale calculation starts from each eligible item's source file size, then converts that size into a width and height multiplier.

Filters the inputs used for the scale range.Only sizes greater than zero are considered valid. Missing or unreadable sizes remain at 1.0 scale and badge as Unknown.
Outlier clampStudio
Prevents a few huge or tiny files from flattening the rest of the board.When enabled, the range uses the 5th and 95th percentiles instead of the absolute min and max.
Log curveStudio
Compresses wide file-size ranges into a readable spread.Default curve. Useful when a board mixes small previews with very large media or project files.
Linear curveStudio
Maps file size proportionally across the scale range.Useful when the source sizes are already in a tight, comparable range.
Min / Max scaleStudio
Defines the output multiplier range.The normalized value is interpolated between Min scale and Max scale, then applied to both width and height.
Strength blendStudio
Blends the board from original size toward the computed scale.Scale is blended from 1.0 toward the full file-size scale, then clamped back into the min/max range.
BadgesStudio
Adds source-size labels only when requested.Show file size badges enables board-surface labels formatted as B, KB, MB, GB, TB, or Unknown.
